HATO Lighting Visit: Supporting Producers With Long Term, High Performance Lighting Solutions
The JF McKenna team welcomed colleagues from HATO Agricultural Lighting for a series of on-farm visits across Ireland. The goal was simple. Review performance, gather real world data and ensure farmers continue to get reliable, high quality lighting that supports bird welfare and daily operations.
Several of the poultry farms visited had Corax lights installed more than seven years ago. The sites were measured across six zones and every reading matched the original installation targets. Lux levels remained consistent with the Fancom panel settings, flicker stayed below one percent and the CRI held above 80. The lighting balance across the shed was still uniform, which is a key factor in supporting calm bird behaviour and creating a stable production environment. It was a strong demonstration of what long term performance looks like when high quality lighting is paired with good farm management and correct installation.
The visits also included dairy units where the difference in light levels between outside and inside the barn was assessed. The contrast was clear. Even a short walk into the shed highlighted how improved lighting could benefit animal visibility, operator safety and workflow. Solutions like the Rudax light can increase levels by up to five percent in these settings, helping farmers create a working environment that is brighter, safer and more efficient.
