Nemasys ® F
Biopesticide for the control of Western Flower Thrips and Leafminer
Nemasys F based on a unique strain of the insect pathogenic nematode, Steinernema feltiae provides effective control of Western Flower Thrips (WFT) and Leafminer larvae.
WFT’S tendency to remain hidden in flowers and buds makes it difficult to detect the thrips before severe feeding damage is evident. They lay their eggs onto the leaves, buds and petals of plant tissue. The pupae emerge into adults, which aggressively attack plants. The damaged plant cells collapse, resulting in deformed plant growth, flower deformation or silvered patches and flecking on leaves.
Leafminers can cause considerable aesthetic damage to crops. Damage is caused in two ways. First, small leaf punctures are made by egg-laying adult females who feed from these punctures and sometimes lay eggs. These punctures are visible as white specks. The larvae that emerge from these eggs feed while tunnelling through the leaf, creating the characteristic meandering mines, which can be devastating if left unchecked.
Benefits
- Controls adult, pre - pupae and larvae thrips stages at the time of application.
- Controls Leafminer larvae present in the crop.
- Unique non-residue formulation.
- Simply applied as a high volume spray.
- No pest resistance problems
- No detrimental effect on crop growth.
- Compatible with a broad range of chemical pesticides and other biological/IPM systems.
- Natural product that is safe to users, consumers and the environment.
- No disposal restriction
- Non-toxic with no requirement for protective clothing.
How Nemasys® F works
Applications of Nemasys F release nematodes in their vigorously infective stage. The nematodes penetrate the bodies of adult, larvae and pre-pupal WFT. For leafminers, the applied nematodes enter the mines and seek out the pest larvae. Once inside either host, the nematodes release symbiotic bacteria, quickly killing the pest.
For Best Results
Nemasys F reduces the WFT population by attacking the adult, larval and pre-pupal stages on plant foliage. In this way Nemasys F works on contact with the pest and is therefore most effective when applied with a wetting agent.
Take care to ensure Nemasys F is applied at spray volumes for uniform coverage, while avoiding run-off. (1000 litres/hectare) |
